10 Annoying Things That Men Do

No offence to all the wonderful men in my life and the ones yet to come, but sometimes we need a break from all your idiosyncrasies which we otherwise put up with every single day. I’m not saying that women are perfect; we also have peculiar habits that men probably put up with, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Today some of you would probably agree with me when I list out a few things which men does all the time and that really gets on our nerves:

  1. Leave us hanging! Just when we are feeling bored this text from him suddenly brings us alive, “Hey what’s up?” And then? Nothing! He’s gone for hours without even responding, just like that!

  2. Not asking the question and leaving everything to speculation. For example, “I was meaning to ask you something.” “Yeah, go ahead.” “No, leave it!” I mean what? The curiosity alone is going to kill us, do you men know that?
  3. It’s perfectly viable if they need to have some alone time with their male buddies and beer, video games and sports but the moment we need some of that, they are all jealous and over possessive. I mean what do you think; we’ll start a freaking pillow fight orgy?

  4. Their obsession with our phone! It’s unbelievable; DO NOT touch our phones, not even to play games!

  5. Their weird fetishes! Men have all these weird fantasies and obsessions and they expect us to play along with them. And if we don’t, then we are just not sporty enough or adventurous enough!

  6. Being emotionless robots. Shutting us out just to put up the “Oh I’m so tough” act. I mean, you are human, not a rock, we understand that you have emotions too; so just show them. If you don’t share your feelings with us, fine. But don’t expect us to confide in you either!

  7. Being offensive! This one by far is the most annoying. They’ll make derogatory comments about things or people important to us just to taunt us and forget where to draw the line. And what next? They’ll blame us for lacking humor!

  8. “Smile”. Well not all of them say this but that’s what they all want. We just can’t be human with a variety of emotions; for their sake we always to fix on our best smiles. Why? Because we light up their world and their mood with it; that’s what we are, mood enhancers! If we still decide to act all grumpy then it’s not long before they pose their obvious questions, “Are you on your periods?”

  9. Pretending like they are doing us a favor! They want us to be grateful to them for being good to us. “C’mon! I know nobody else hits on you.” There; he just said it, what the hell? It’s extremely annoying when they take our courtesy for granted and use it to boost their ego.
  10. Their impromptu plans and their expectation from us to indulge them! For God’s sake, not all women like surprises! I mean if you do not give us a detailed description of your plans, how on earth are we supposed to know whether we are dressed for the occasion or not?
That's all for the day. If you agree with me please hit a like or give this a +1 on g+. If you think I have missed out on some vital points, then please leave a comment. Also if you have suggestions about upcoming blog posts you can leave me a comment or a message.

7 Indian Brands for LGBT

In 2009, Delhi’s High Court struck down Section 377 of the Indian constitution, an anti-sodomy law from when India was under British Rule. But the freedom was short lived when on 11th December, 2013, the Supreme Court of India reinstated it and thus re-criminalized same sex relationships in India. The LGBT community and their supporters (obviously) were offended and took to the streets or to the social media to express their outrage. It is overwhelming when famous brands take matters into their own hands and fearlessly express their disagreement of such clear disrespect for human rights.

  1. Amul is one of the biggest and oldest food brands in India and their mascot, the Amul girl has been commenting on topical Indian issues and capturing the spirit of India charmingly.
  2. Tanishq, a leading jewelry brand in India, won our hearts with their groundbreaking advertising. This one is in support of the LGBT community.
  3. Fastrack, a popular youth fashion brand in India is known for it's risky and unconventional campaign, "move on". This poster says it all:
Fastrack also released a commercial featuring two girls emerging from a closet which was an "extremely rare instance of showing lesbians in mainstream Indian media", probably one of the firsts. But personally, I'm not a big fan of the idea to move on so easily. Anyway:
  4. Allen Solly, a two-decade old men's fashion brand headed by one of India's biggest industrial houses, also came out in support of the LGBT community:

  5. Hidesign, a homegrown luxury goods brand shared this post in support of repealing section 377 of the Indian Penal Code:

  6. Hindustan Times, one of India's oldest English daily newspaper, came out with this wonderful commercial to inspire an open-minded individual:

  7. Anouk, an ethnic wear brand, retailed on fashion portal Myntra, has released a series of commercials upholding the idea "Bold is Beautiful". Although a bit too long to be classified as an ad, this one features a lesbian couple expecting a visit from their parents and I have to admit, it made me cry a little.

It is shameful that the world's largest democracy considers love a crime! In a country where marital rape is still rampant, consensual sex between adults of the same gender is frowned upon and in fact considered a sickness. When brands and powerful individuals come forward to disagree with such baseless laws, it encourages the common people to think out of their boxes. If you agree with me, hit a like or just +1 it on Google. If you don't, even better, I love a good debate: so please leave a comment.

Slut's The Word!

In most of my blog posts, I'm usually speaking my mind out, giving my opinion on every topic that interests me. When a woman does that she often earns a lot of titles, such as bitch, cunt or SLUT! For a change, today I'm not here to impose my views on anyone and instead just present certain facts that might interest you. As the title suggests, I'm going to tell you about the origin of our very favourite word, "SLUT":
  1. Did you know that the very first sluts were men? Geoffrey Chaucer wrote The Canterbury Tales between 1387 and 1400. The word "slut" was first used there to describe a man who was a sloppy dresser and hence didn't have much luck with women.
  2. By the 15th century "slut" became a term that was applied for women, specifically poor women and housemaids who had low standards of cleanliness and hence weren't particularly good at keeping the house clean. In fact, dust bunnies were referred to as slut's wool and the old school slang for garbage can was slut's hole. In olden days this was a very sexist and classist remark - if you are a low-income woman and you can't even keep your house clean, then why the hell do you exist? Still not believable, right?
  3. "Slut" was used mainly for low-income white women. But very soon it was assumed that black women were not very good at keeping their houses clean with the meager income. However society's excessive sexualisation of black women soon resulted in "slut" being exclusively used to describe them - hence the racist connotation of the word!
  4. The ratification of the 19th amendment in the US around the 1920's gave women the right to vote. Around the 1980's there was an exponential rise in the number of US women joining workforce. Do you know which words' usage also increased during this period? "Slut" and "bitch"! If a woman is strong or independent, she's by default a SLUT!
  5. Recent studies have shown that today girls slut-shame other girls much more than guys do. It is ugly and unbelievable how harshly a girl judges another girl. That same girl won't mind a flirty guy and might in fact defend him saying that there's nothing wrong about it. Girls also do this to higher their social status by belittling other girls.
The Oxford Dictionary says that a slut is a woman with many casual sex partners. Nowadays many women try to justify their frivolous habits by calling themselves sluts and how it's an attitude that they are proud of. But the fact is that whenever we use the word slut to derogate someone or to break down their social image, we are actually bringing back the history of sexism, classism and racism. An old classmate just uploaded her relationship status on facebook again, what a SLUT!
